I was born and raised in Changzhou, a historic city in Jiangsu Province, China, in an intellectual family. After a fulfilling childhood, I attended Changzhou High School, where I participated in a gifted program that allowed me to complete the standard six-year curriculum in five years. I then enrolled at Nanjing University, and earned my bachelor 's degree in Computer Science in 2002.Â
Following graduation, I joined the Distributed Computing Laboratory (DisLab), where my research focused on design and implementation of large-scale video-on-demand (VoD) systems. During this time, I also served as a visiting researcher in the Department of Computing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, collaborating with Professor Jiannong Cao on research addressing cache consistency challenges in Peer-to-Peer systems.
In 2005, I began my doctoral studies at Penn State University in Professor Guohong Cao's reearch group. My work there spanned wireless networks, distributed systems, network security, and inter-vehicle communications. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering in February 2011. In parallel with my research, I was actively involved in student leadership, serving as Chair of the International Committee (2005-2007) and a member of the Academics Committee (2005-2006) for the Graduate Student Association (GSA) at Penn State.
Professionally, I have held engineering and technical leadership roles at several leading technology and security companies, including Palo Alto Networks (2011-2016), Forescout (2016-2020), F5 (2020-2021), and Normalyze (2021-2025). I joined Cyberhaven in Jan 2025, where I continue to work on advancing data and AI security technologies.
